Morning routines online tend to have twenty steps and start at five a.m. Yours does not have to. A good routine is one you can repeat, even on a hard day.
Start with five small steps
Pick things that take a few minutes and make you feel good. For example:
- Drink a glass of water as soon as you get up.
- Open the window or curtains to let light in.
- Make your bed, even if it is quick.
- Five minutes of stretching or breathing.
- Look at your planner and choose the most important thing of the day.
How to set it up in My routine
Open My routine and go to the Morning section. Tap to add a step, type its name and repeat with the others. You can order them however you like. Each morning you check them off and watch your list fill up.
If you want a little nudge, set an alarm for the time you usually wake up. You can use a sound of your own that you love.
Make it easy, not perfect
If a step feels hard, make it smaller. "Stretch for ten minutes" can become "stretch for one minute." What matters is that it does not feel like a heavy chore.
Pair your routine with something you already do, like making coffee or brushing your teeth. Habits stick better when they go hand in hand with others.
Review and adjust
After a week, look at which steps you did and which always stay unchecked. Remove or change the ones that do not work for you. Your routine can grow with you, and it is fine if today it only has three steps.
Start tomorrow. With five small steps, you already have a routine.
